How to Tie Your Tie-On Waist Beads

Your adornment practice begins with a fit that feels right for you. Whether this is your first strand or a new addition to your stack, this tutorial will guide you through tying your Heritage Luxe waist beads.

Gather your waist beads and a pair of scissors, and give yourself a few unhurried minutes. Watch the video before you begin, and check your fit tying your beads.

1. Release the ends

Carefully release the temporary closure holding your strand together. Keep control of both ends so the beads do not slide off unexpectedly.

2. Find your placement

Wrap the strand around your body where you would like it to rest. You may prefer it higher at your natural waist, lower toward your hips, or somewhere in between.

There is no single correct placement. Consider your clothing, how you move, and how you want your beads to feel throughout the day.

3. Adjust the fit

Slide the excess beads away from the section you will wear and toward the loose ends, creating space to tie the exposed thread.

Before tying, sit down, take a full breath, and move a little. Leave room for the natural changes your body experiences throughout the day, including fullness after eating and bloating.

Your beads should rest comfortably without digging into your skin. Take your time here—once tied and trimmed, this strand will not adjust like a clasped necklace.

4. Tie securely

With the beads positioned where you want them, bring the exposed threads together and tie a firm knot, following the hand placement shown in the video.

Add two to three more knots to secure the closure. Keep the fit comfortable as you tighten each knot.

5. Trim the excess thread

Check your placement and knots one last time. Then trim the excess thread, leaving approximately one inch beyond the knot.

You do not need to burn the ends or add glue.

Living with your waist beads

Tie-on waist beads are intended for continuous wear. As you get used to yours, take care when dressing, using the restroom, and moving clothing over them to avoid pulling or snagging the strand.

You may notice your beads resting differently as you sit, stand, eat, or move. Let that awareness be an invitation to care for yourself. Your adornment belongs on the body you have now.
